The School of Education at Roger Williams University has a strong emphasis on STEAM (Science Technology Engineering the Arts and Math) in our Elementary certification program. All students take 4 math courses, 4 science courses, a technology course and have the option to take  9 additional credits to get a STEAM certificate. These students will also have a student teaching placement in a school with a rich STEAM experience.

Our Secondary Education students who wish to earn the STEAM certificate will also be able to be placed in a specialized student teaching experience and enroll in the STEAM elective courses.

Educational Studies majors may also earn a STEAM certificate. Please see Dr. Thombs to customize your internship and electives.

Additional opportunities for field work, placements, enrichment experiences and conferences will be posted on this website.

The Engineering Course will be offered each fall. Please email Dr. Yang if you are interested.

A one credit online course is Coding for Teachers will be offered during the Spring and Summer I sessions. See Dr. Thombs for details.
